Big Budgeting Top 5 for your Wedding Day
Sticking to a budget can be hard at the best of times, let alone when you’re planning the day when you marry the one you love! How can you have the day of your dreams and still stay within a reasonable budget?
1. Set your Priorities
In any relationship, communication is the key to success so sit down with your partner and agree on a list of “must haves” and “would like to haves” for your day. Write this list down so you can refer to it and keep on track. Of course, nothing is set in stone and if you just have to have those wedding shoes, see if there are other areas you can save on in order to afford them.
2. Be Honest
Sure, it’s a big day, few days compare to the importance of your wedding day. But, if budgets are tight, then being honest and realistic upfront can be the difference between an enjoyable celebration and a stressful time which leaves you in deep debt. A lack of budgeting and planning can be a major contributor to wedding stress and even resentment between couples.
3. Pick your Time
Spring and summer are the peak times to have a wedding. Think outside the box and consider other times in the year that may be less expensive. For example, in winter, there are especially good deals to be had. In fact, did you know that…
- Flower arrangements last longer in winter
- We typically get less rain in winter in Sydney than in summer
- Winter months offer fantastic lighting for photographs, rather than everyone squinting and sweating in the summer
- Less humidity means no make-up meltdowns!
4. You’ve got Mail!
Subscribe to wedding e-mail lists to get notifications of upcoming specials, VIP sales events and new items coming into stock.
5. Ask for Help
Although many couples finance their own wedding celebrations these days, it is still common for parents to contribute to the cost of the day. If this isn’t the case in your family, call on others to help in a non-monetary way. For example, do you have a sister-in-law who is a great baker? Or how about your Uni friend who does some DJ work on the side? Consider asking for contributions such as these in lieu of a gift from these guests.
Make your wedding plans as stress-free as possible with clever budgeting and you’ll be set for a happy and relaxing lead up to the big day.
