EVERY BRIDE’S VENUE GUIDE: HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT WEDDING VENUE
Finding the right venue for your special day can be time-consuming and potentially daunting. To help you decide we’ve put together six tips on what you need to consider before you make your decision.
1. Location, location, location
Location is one of the most important factors when choosing a wedding venue. Every bride wants somewhere where there is some real wow factor but you also need to make sure it is convenient for all your guests and has plenty of free parking. Don’t underestimate the importance of outdoor space or terraces and some break out areas.
The Waterfront Function Centre has one of the most spectacular waterside locations in Sydney. It’s handy to the airport and local transport hubs and has ample parking for guests. The bride and groom can even choose to arrive by boat or helicopter for that added wow factor.
2. Budget
Before you start your search, agree a budget and stick to it. Avoid being tempted by more expensive places that are way out of your budget. On the same note, take care about opting for doing things ‘on the cheap’ – as you may compromise on service or be stung with hidden costs. Choose a venue that is good value, with great facilities, food and service and take time to read customer testimonials and check their credentials. Also check to see if they can offer you a wedding package, not only could it save you money but oodles of time and worry as well.
A wedding package, especially like the ones offered by the Waterfront Function Centre, doesn’t necessarily mean a compromise either. The Waterfront team have done all the hard work for you and sourced the best possible supplier options – and even better, they will work with you to ensure that your wedding is still as special and individual as you are.
3. Facilities and Services
Good venues offer great facilities and services as standard. Benefits you can expect as part of your package should include: exclusive use of your reception room, exclusive use of a bridal room, state of the art AV equipment including projectors and microphones, dance floor, exclusive bar and wait staff, refreshment options, table linens and chair covers and a wedding coordinator. Make sure you check on all inclusions as well as extra costs.
4. Space
Ensure the venue you choose is appropriate for your needs. For smaller weddings, a more intimate room may be best suited for your needs. For larger events, a venue that can offer ample space with breakout area will be better suited.
5. What do others say?
Check out the venues website and social media sites – see what people are saying about them. Look for testimonials and recommendations.
6. Site visits
Make sure you do a site visit before making any decisions and try to do it at the time your wedding will take place. A site visit will give you the chance to meet the staff, ensure the facilities are up to standard, check the room is right for the number of guests you’ll have, test the food & drinks options and above all get a feel for the ambience of the venue.
