Wishing you a very happy new year!
Whether you are newly engaged (congratulations) or you have previously set the date to get married, there’s one thing you already know – 2014 is all about your wedding. We thought we would kick off this great and glorious year with some New Years Wedding Resolutions, promises you can make to yourself to ensure the wedding planning and the day itself go as smoothly as possible.
Of course everyone at the Waterfront Function Centre has had years of experience in holding a successful wedding and we all agreed this that these should be the top five resolutions.
1. We will book everything now.
Once you’ve decided on the type of wedding you want make sure you book your venue, your cars, your photographer, your band and your flowers – as far in advance as possible. Finding the right venue on the right date will be your biggest challenge so ‘I will be flexible’ might be another resolution to make.
2. We will make and stick to our wedding budget.
It’s so tempting to go a bit overboard on your special day but don’t forget, there’s so much more you’re going to want to do in a lifetime together. Don’t start life as a married couple in wedding debt. Nothing will kill off a beautiful memory more than a zero (or worse) bank balance.
3. We will do as much as possible together
When one person, usually the bride, carries the planning load it can cause great stress between couples. Someone feels they’re not being supported or someone feels left out. Get involved in decision making and planning and things will pan out beautifully.
4. We will talk about things other than the wedding
Don’t make your time together all about wedding planning. If you’re organised you can still spend time doing and talking about other things you love. Try to have at least one ‘wedding free’ date a week. And carry this resolution into your relationships with your friends and family – although they love you, they don’t want to endlessly hear about your preparations.
5.We will both look and feel wonderful on the day.
OK, this might mean a resolution not to eat cake until your wedding day. Or to exercise more and drink less. It will also be about creating some strategies to keep stress at bay. Most importantly you should both commit to a plan to look and feel as healthy and happy as possible when you join together as a couple.
The Waterfront Function Centre wishes you a very happy new year of wedding planning. Make it as much fun as possible and we know you’ll enjoy this great event. If you have any questions in regards to our function centre, do not hesitate to give us a call (02) 9529 7276.
