For many brides the flower selection is one of the most important aspects of planning a wedding. Flowers bring colour, life, and fragrance to the occasion and can transform any space into something magical and beautiful.
Even a magnificent venue like the Waterfront Function Centre transforms into an enchanted space once all the flowers arrive.
Choosing the right flowers can be a little confusing, not to mention a budget breaker so we thought you might appreciate a few pointers from one of our trusted florists, Melissa from multi award winning florist, Sylvania Flower Studio.
Melissa believes it’s important to keep your overall wedding colours and theme in mind when selecting your flowers and if the budget has boundaries, stick to seasonal flowers where possible.
She also suggests you insist on seeing photographic evidence of your florist’s previous work. ‘There are quite a few flower shop owners calling themselves florists’ she cautioned ‘it can be very disappointing when your flowers are not up to expectations’.
Sylvania Flower Studio has been supplying flowers for weddings for over nine years. Melissa has won Most Outstanding Florist in the Sutherland Shire Leader Business awards 2010 and Melissa Dean herself has won Most Outstanding Youth of the Year Award in 2009. One of the most memorable occasions for Melissa was creating arrangements end to end, along a nine metre bridal table, as well as for the 45 guest tables.
‘It was stunning, unforgettable’, she said.
Roses, that most romantic of flowers, is still the most popular choice however a current trend is towards flowers that look like they could have been picked from the garden that morning. Of course a lot of work goes into making them appear that casual but it can be very effective.
Wedding flowers are one of the most important elements of your big day. Not only do they help create the right atmosphere, they symbolize life, growth, and rebirth. They can become one of the most memorable aspects of an unforgettable day.
